Our Story

Born on the Gold Coast in 2017, The Ama Project sprouted from a shared passion among friends: the burning desire to connect people with nature and inspire positive change for our planet. We started by fostering a community thirsty for knowledge and hosting informative workshops on environmental issues.

Today, we focus on empowering individuals to form meaningful connections with the natural environment, fostering personal growth and a collective impact. We invite you to join us!

Our Team

Cindy

Founder / Head Ocean Coach

The ocean has long been a source of inspiration and adventure for Cindy. Being a lifelong surfer, spearfisher, and freediver, the ocean is an inherent and vital part of her life. As such, she became the first female owner/skipper in the surf charter industry in the Mentaiwai Islands in 2011.

Before relocating to Australia, Cindy cultivated a strong background in conservation biology, graduating from UC Davis, and dedicated a decade of her life to serving as a firefighter in California, specialising as a paramedic and HazMat technician.

Today, she pursues her passions as a freelance photographer and a dedicated freediving coach since 2017, capturing and leading underwater adventures near and far.
